Bloomberg launched Beyond Carbon in 2019 with a $500 million commitment and the goals of eliminating coal entirely, slashing gas in half, blocking new plants, and increasing clean energy four-fold. In 2023, Bloomberg gave an additional $500 million to expand the campaign.
Bloomberg’s 501(c)(3) has donated to many other organizations that oppose President Trump’s energy agenda, including Ceres, EarthJustice, Environmental Defense Fund, Natural Resources Defense Council, and New Venture Fund.
